So today after my jogging class, I was driving home and noticed I was out of gas....I was on my way to Enmark (2.11/gal!) and knew that God wanted me to share with somebody there. I normally have to choose either inside or outside witnessing because I would have to block the pump taking so much time. So I told God that if He wants me to share with the clerk to give me a sign to go inside and if not I would share with the person at the next pump. So I pumped my gas and sure enough...the receipt didn't come out and the machine read, "Go see cashier"....It has never done this with me at that station and I go there all the time! So, to make sure I didn't deny God's easy ability to show me a sign I just said, "Thanks God, please prepare their hearts" and walked in with boldness. I got my receipt and handed them a tract and asked the question, "what do yall think happens after death?" to which one girl working said, Heaven somewhat rudely and the other lady said she didn't know. I asked where they think they personally would go and the girl said, "Heaven, I'm sure of it" and I said, "What makes you sure?" to which she said, youv'e gotta do what the Bible says. The woman said, "I don't know about me, but does judgement come after you die or do you just lay in the dirt?" I told her that the Bible states that man will die, then face the judgement. So I said, God has a standard for us to meet to see if were holy enough. Its the 10 commandments, and they are impossible for mankind to keep without breaking, which is required by God.....for instance, Have you ever told a lie? to which thw woman said yes and I said, that means that your guilty of breaking God's law and He must judge sin. Youve got to humble yourself before God and confess your sin and surrender (give up on trying) and tell God that He needs to change your heart and make you a new creation to desire what is good and hate was is evil....Only Jesus can cleanse you of your sin and thats why He came to be your pure and spotless lamb sacrifice. She said she would be guilty before God and that it scared her to think about going to Hell. I asked her if she knew what she needed to do and she said, "Yes". I told her to read Psalm 51 and to start reading John as well. She wanted the Gospel of John booklet I had in my car and I gave her "One Heartbeat Away" by Mark Cahill to help her out. She told me to come see her again and I promised I would.....One cool thing was that all the people who came in the store when I was sharing heard the Gospel, because I was proud of it! It was so awesome to experience this and to see that God wants to be a big deal to people....He wants people to stop thinking about themselves for one second in their day and to think about Him and how they need to live for Him with every part of who they are. God is so Great! I don't see how anyone could deny His greatness....plus there is so much proof of it...everything points to Him. If you read this and have ANY questions about God or life, write me and I would LOVE to share with You why I believe wholeheartedly in my Maker and King. Be blessed and Go serve Him.
Many times I’ve sat on the front pew just prior to the sermon time looking at the steps to the pulpit. In these moments each Sunday morning I’m reminded of the great task with which I have been entrusted and my own weakness to perform it. After hours of painstaking study and prayerful preparation, I still stare at those steps and feel under qualified, knowing I’ve only scratched the surface of the message. There is a certain holy trembling a preacher feels before climbing those steps to proclaim God’s eternal Word. In centuries past, preachers like Charles Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd-Jones had to climb winding staircases to reach the “sacred desk”, but many pulpits today are just a few steps above the floor. Whether you have many steps or none at all, it is an other-worldly task we have been given. The following are a few practical steps preachers can take before climbing the real ones on Sunday morning... 1. Get in the Word We must immerse ourselves in the text at the outset o
