Praise Him! He is Worthy!

Today I read: 2 Kings 14, Psalms 66-67, Hosea 7, and 2 Timothy 4.

Gospel summary: God alone is worthy of all praise, yet we so often live for our selfish and ungodly desires, instead of the glory of God's name. Because of the infinitely glorious gospel where Jesus died for the ungodly and atoned for their sins, saints of all people, ought to be living in a way that praises God.

Prayer: Father in heaven, may your name alone be eternally exalted, for you are so worthy of all praise. Glory be to your name for redeeming us wicked and self-centered rebels to your throne by the sacrifice of your only Son Jesus. Help me to see the folly of praising the creation over you the Creator and give me eyes to see your sheer worth over all things, that I may perpetually have a song of praise in my heart to you. Teach me to praise you and lead others to praise you, though I live in a world where this is not very popular. May you use me to bring the nations to praise you, as I show them your worth in the gospel. In your glorious name Jesus, amen.

Memory verses: "Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip." (‭Psalm‬ ‭66‬:‭8-9‬ ESV)

Hymn: "All Creatures of Our God and King" by Francis of Assisi

All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing,
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
Thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise Him, O praise Him,

Refrain:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail in heav'n along,
O praise Him, Alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice,
O praise Him, O praise Him,

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light,
O praise Him, O praise Him,

All men who know God's saving grace,
By faith behold your Saviour's face,
O praise Him, Alleluia!
Praise Him, Who came from heav'n above
And bore your guilt of sin in love.
O praise Him, O praise Him,

Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness.
O praise Him, Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, three in one,
O praise Him, O praise Him,

The Blessed Generation- Psalm 24

Psalm 24 "A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord 's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord , strong and mighty, the Lord , mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah" David begins this psalm with a joyful declaration that G...

The Word: Fully Human, Fully Divine

The Christmas holiday brings with it questions of both the incarnation and the trustworthiness of its record. Was Jesus just a man claiming to be God or God pretending to be a man? If the Bible was written by men, can we really trust it? In this two-part post, we’ll see the fully human, fully Divine nature of both God’s Word (post 1) and Jesus, God’s Word made flesh (post 2). So this week, lets examine the reliability of the Bible, which bears the record of the God-Man, Jesus. The Word of God is fully human a) Human agents, with their own personalities and backgrounds, wrote the Bible The Scripture was written over more than a millennium-long stretch of time by several dozen authors from various cultural backgrounds. Therefore to consider that God could speak one distinct message for His people through such different people in different times and different places is surely a miracle. Students of the Bible can tell you that the message of God’s Word, whether Genesis or Revel...

Delivered from All That Would Destroy Us

Scripture: Psalms 144-145, Mark 3. Gospel summary: God is our great deliverer who comes to the rescue of his children. He has personally come in Jesus of Nazareth to release us from bondage to Satan, reverse the effects of the fall, cleanse us from all sin, and call us to be his own special people who carry his gospel to the world. Prayer: Father in heaven, praise be to your glorious name. You are so worthy, for you alone have come to my rescue and delivered my soul from sin, Satan, and all suffering. Thank you that you didn't sit up in the heavens and expect me to deliver myself, but that you came to deliver me yourself in the person of Jesus. God, I am such a rebel against your will and do not have the power to live for Christ, but I give you glory for saving me, and at great cost to yourself...the shame and suffering of the Son of God at the hands of your enemies. I thank you that Jesus is the stronger Man who binds up Satan the strong man and before whom even the demons tr...
