God All-wise

Scripture: Psalms 126-127, Romans 11.

Gospel summary: God's sovereign grace will prove effectual to save sinners from Jews and non-Jews. God is to be praised for his infinite wisdom in the plan of redemption he thought up.

Prayer: Father in heaven, I praise your awesome name for the wisdom of your redeeming plan. Keep my heart in a state of constant amazement at your sovereign ways and let me overflow in worship as I ponder you. Spare me from a cold, calculated understanding of your sovereignty and fill my heart with the awestruck wonder and worship that is fitting for a small creature like me contemplating such a great God as you. For the everlasting glory of Jesus I pray, amen.

The Power of The Spirit of God

Today I read: 2 Kings 2, Psalm 48, Daniel 6, and 2 Thessalonians 2. Gospel Summary: Our spiritual strength is not our own, but is a result of the Holy Spirit working in us. When we trust in God's strength, we are immovable and even our greatest foes cannot destroy us. If it were not for the Holy Spirit we would have no strength against the forces of evil that come against us. Prayer: O God, you are my strength and apart from your Holy Spirit in me I would be nothing. Keep me ever pleading like Elisha for a double portion of your Spirit. Spare me today from assuming that I have this power apart from you and keep me ever dependent on the constant filling of your Holy Spirit. Show me that with your Holy Spirit in me there is nothing I face you cannot bring me through. But please teach me that apart from your Spirit I have no chance against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Giving it up and Just Meeting God

I was about to go to bed the other night when Doug told me he wanted to just chill with me and talk about what God is up to. I had been running around like a chicken with my head cut off all day and was acting as though God would waste some of my time. I have now come to the conclusion that God deserves my time...even if it means me only getting about 4 hrs of sleep, like I did last night. I think this is gonna teach me to discipline myself about all the stuff I go to and do with other people so that I can sit and just chill with God for a while each day. I don't like the term "quiet time" because its just so lame sounding....I prefer Chill Time. I think if God were to use up to date lingo, he would call it chill time. I mean, why can't we just be still and know that He is God. I also think this will strengthen my love for Him and for others.
